We rode the train from Shanghai to Beijing today. The train ride was very smooth. I worked on my computer some, read a book and played games on my tablet, and dozed off. Last night I’d bought what I thought were two boiled eggs. I tried one on the train and discovered it was a pickled egg rather than a normal boiled egg. Cara laughed at my sour face. I didn’t open the second egg. I’ll probably throw it away.

We arrived at the station and were met by a student from BNU.

The bus dropped us off at our hotel and we were allowed 30 minutes to put our items in our room, clean up, and be back on the bus. The bus then took us to BNU where we met some Early Childhood Education students. We had an opportunity to see some of the activities that they have prepared to do with students. On the cards were Chinese characters and the words spelled out. I was able to sound out the words. The Chinese student was amazed at how well I could pronounce the words. She asked if I had studied Chinese previously and I told her I had studied Spanish not Chinese. It was nice getting to know them but I really just wanted time to shower, unpack, and sleep.
We came back to our hotel and Jon found a restaurant next door that had delicious food. I don’t know that this food was prepared any better than the food in Shanghai, but I now know what foods I do like and don’t like so I was able to ask Jon to order Sweet & Sour Chicken and Scrambled Eggs with Tomatoes. I was full after this meal!
